Iontophoresis Therapy
Direct current iontophoresis therapy, is an internationally recognised and scientifically confirmed procedure that is widely acknowledged as one of the most effective methods of treatment for Hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, available.
High Specification
The Idromed 5 GS is a high specification, hospital grade unit that can be used by individuals in the comfort of their own home. Iontophoresis is recognised as the next step in treatment, should topical applications of maximum strength antiperspirants etc, not solve or control excessive sweating and it is hoped that Iontophoresis would eradicate the need for possible ETS surgery.
Instuctions for use
The iontophoresis treatment is performed using hand and foot baths. The affected parts of the body are placed inside the treatment basin, which is filled with normal tap water. A weak DC electrical current is conducted through the baths by electrodes. This current is increased gradually to a certain intensity, so that the patient experiences a 'pleasant' tingling sensation. The weak current inhibits the secretion of the sweat glands whithout damaging the glands themselves. In the armpits the current is applicated via wet sponge electrodes available seperately.
In the early stages of treatment, the affected parts of the body should be treated once a day for about 10-15 minutes. Generally 10 to 15 treatment sessions are sufficient to normalize sweating levels. After that the treatment frequency can usually be reduced to once or twice a week to maintain result.
